Herbal Remedies

Herbs are an important source of nutrition, and should be thought of as food, not drugs.  In the East, herbs are a part of everyones daily diet, taken in the form of brewed teas.  Here in the States, few people are interested in the strong tastes and smells produced by the herbal teas, so companies have produced herbal formulas in pill form.   Herbal remedies are prescribed based upon the specific condition being treated and should not be taken without consulting a qualified herbalist.  There are herbs which tonify or strengthen the body and are used to maintain good health.  Others expel wind, heat, or cold which can cause common colds, allergies or pain in muscles and joints.  Herbal formulas have been shown to relax and calm the spirit of persons who are anxious or experiencing insomnia.   Another excellent use of herbs is to offset problems caused by harsh drugs used to treat cancer or HIV.  Whatever a person is experiencing in his or her life, there are herbal formulas (used for hundreds of years) which can supply necessary nutrients and energetic components that only Mother Earth can supply.  Mother Earth, in the form of seeds, berries, twigs, barks, grasses, weeds, plants, and leaves provides a bounty of natural solutions to all ailments that our society suffers from.  We can pay homage to the cultures who have used  herbs with great success, by beginning ourselves to honor the Earth and take what She is offering us in the form of herbal remedies.
